Who can be a proctor?

The proctor must have one of the following titles:

Postsecondary officials:

  • Registrar;

  • Librarian; or
  • Counselor

Head librarian at a public library

Base education officer (military students only)

A commissioned officer whose rank is higher than the student (military students only)

Why are online exams required to be proctored?

In this technology-rich era, the opportunity for dishonesty in the academic environment is abundant.  According to LokerJobs, proctoring helps to ensure academic integrity by verifying the identity of the test-taker and monitoring the testing session to make sure unauthorized resources are not used.  It also helps to create a level playing field for students taking courses on campus.

What materials am I allowed to use during my final exam?
